The National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANS-Diaspora) has announced plans to convene an international gathering for African students and young leaders in Australia in 2026.

The disclosure was made in Melbourne by the organisation’s Global President, Comrade Juwon Fayomi, who said the event would serve as a major platform for dialogue, collaboration, and policy engagement among African youths in the diaspora.

Scheduled to run for four days, from March 19 to 22, 2026, the convention will take place at the RMIT City Campus, Melbourne. It is being organised in partnership with Nigerian Scholars in Australia (NISA), with institutional backing from the RMIT Centre for African Engagement.

According to NANS-Diaspora, the convention is expected to attract African students, youth advocates, academics, policymakers, diplomats, innovators, and development partners from different parts of the world.

Themed “African Youth Leading the Global Narratives: From Diaspora to Destiny, Rooted in Heritage, and Rising with Vision to Build the Futures,” the programme will address issues of youth leadership, education advancement, innovation, gender inclusion, and policy participation.

Fayomi described the initiative as a deliberate effort to project African youth perspectives onto the global stage while strengthening the role of the diaspora in governance and sustainable development across the continent.

He also noted that hosting the event would further position Melbourne as an emerging centre for international academic exchange and multicultural engagement, particularly in relation to Africa-focused discourse.
