The Wives of Chairmen of three Local Government Areas and one Local Council Development Area within Lagos State Health District V have officially flagged off the Measles–Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign across the district. The participating councils include Ajeromi Ifelodun, Amuwo Odofin, Badagry Local Government, and Badagry West LCDA.

The campaign aims to strengthen child health and prevent vaccine-preventable diseases, while also reinforcing Routine Immunisation for children aged 0–23 months and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for girls aged nine years. The district-level flag-off followed the state-wide launch by the Wife of the Lagos State Governor on Tuesday, 27th January 2026.

The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Lagos State Health District V and aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly the Health and Environment pillar, which prioritises disease prevention and equitable access to quality healthcare services.

Speaking at various flag-off events, Chairmen’s wives including Mrs. Bolanle Akindipe, Dr. Omolara Sanusi, Mrs. Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Hunpe, and Mrs. Ibrahim Mariam urged parents and caregivers to embrace immunisation as a proven and cost-effective strategy for reducing childhood illness and mortality.

The Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District V, Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, reaffirmed the district’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage. He noted that the vaccination campaign represents a critical step toward ensuring that children and adolescents across communities have access to essential healthcare services, free of charge.
