The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has intensified stakeholder engagement to strengthen operational standards within the septage management value chain.

The engagement involved the Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants Managers Association of Lagos (FASTMAL) and the Sewage and Wastewater Dislodgers Association of Nigeria (SWADAN), focusing on infrastructure expansion and safety enforcement.
The General Manager of LSWMO, Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, stressed the urgent need for structured action plans to standardise procedures and ensure strict environmental compliance.
He emphasized that rapid urbanisation demands expanded treatment capacity and improved operational discipline, particularly at jetty discharge points and across septage handling stations.

Stakeholders pledged collaborative efforts to upgrade infrastructure, retrofit haulage trucks, and enforce safety standards to safeguard public health and environmental sustainability.
