The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) has taken a bold step toward transforming grassroots health services by hosting a Joint Leadership Dialogue. This historic meeting brought together all Local Government and LCDA Chairmen to forge a unified approach to improving Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery across the state.

LSPHCB Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, described the dialogue as a "defining call to leadership." He argued that the success of the PHC system is directly tied to how much ownership local leaders take of their community health centers, emphasizing that their direct involvement is the key to improving community trust and health worker morale.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, reaffirmed that revitalizing PHCs is a central pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda. She urged Local Government Chairmen to meet their counterpart funding obligations and ensure transparency in how health resources are managed at the local level to guarantee sustainable reforms.

Commissioner for Health Prof. Akin Abayomi noted that local leaders are on the front lines of achieving universal health coverage. He stated that the performance of LGAs in areas like nutrition and maternal health determines the overall health status of Lagos, making their collaboration with the State Government absolutely essential for long-term success.

The dialogue ended with a collective pledge from the Local Government Chairmen to prioritize health in their budgets and administrative focus. By working in close tandem with the LSPHCB, they aim to create a resilient and accessible healthcare system that serves every resident, regardless of their location within the state.
