The Lagos State Law Reform Commission (LAWRECOM) has intensified efforts to strengthen legal awareness and governance through strategic partnerships with local government authorities and community institutions across the state.

This initiative was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the Commission’s management team, led by Executive Secretary Mrs. Oluyemisi Ogunlola, to the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of Conference 57, Honourable Sesan Olowa.

During the meeting, Ogunlola emphasized the importance of collaboration with local government structures in promoting legislative development and public awareness of laws guiding governance in Lagos State.

She explained that the Commission aims to partner with local authorities on reviewing, harmonising, compiling, and codifying local government bye-laws. The initiative also includes translating these laws into Yoruba and establishing community-based legal access centres.

Responding, Olowa welcomed the proposal and assured the Commission of Conference 57’s readiness to support initiatives that strengthen governance frameworks, improve legislative processes, and enhance legal accessibility for residents across Lagos communities.
