The Lagos State Law Reform Commission has intensified efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration as part of its mandate to drive inclusive and people-centred law reform in Lagos State. The move aligns with the social inclusion pillar of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritises equitable access to governance and public services.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. Oluyemisi Ogunlola, made this known during a courtesy visit by the management team of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), led by its General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal. She described the engagement as part of LAWRECOM’s strategic consultations with key agencies aimed at repositioning the Commission for enhanced service delivery.
Mrs. Ogunlola reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to embedding accessibility and inclusion in relevant legislation, noting that some of LASODA’s proposals would be entrenched in ongoing law reform processes in line with global best practices. She disclosed plans to constitute a dedicated working group to drive the legislative review process forward.
In her remarks, Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal called for stronger legislative backing to support LASODA’s advocacy on accessibility compliance in public facilities across the state. She stressed the importance of ensuring that public buildings are fully accessible to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), while also advocating greater inclusion of PWDs in the public service and mandatory engagement of sign language interpreters at official events.

Reiterating his administration’s support for sports development, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos would continue to provide an enabling environment for world-class events that position the state as Africa’s premier hub for business, culture, and recreation.
