The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has dismissed claims by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism alleging unpaid compensation to the family of late highway sanitation worker, Mrs. Aishat Muhammed.

LAWMA clarified that following her death on May 7, 2025, discussions were held with the family through its operational partner, Highway Managers, culminating in a mutually agreed compensation.

The Authority stated that ₦4,340,000 was paid to the deceased’s son as full and final settlement, covering insurance, burial support, and additional assistance.

LAWMA expressed sympathy to the family while reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare and strengthened safety measures.

The Authority urged media outlets to seek clarification before publication to ensure balanced and responsible reporting.
