The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) celebrated a significant academic milestone with the second graduation ceremony of its School of Echocardiography. Held at the MRC Auditorium, the event honored a new group of specialists trained to enhance the state's diagnostic capabilities. Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, noted that the school's success is the result of a deliberate strategy to position LASUTH as a leader in advanced medical education.

Prof. Fabamwo lauded the school’s leadership under Dr. Ajibare, a Consultant Cardiologist whose discipline helped the institution overcome initial resistance from various professional bodies. The CMD emphasized that the school's growth serves as a testament to institutional resilience and a commitment to innovation. He noted that the journey was challenging, but the successful graduation of the second cohort proves that excellence and clarity of purpose can overcome any administrative or professional hurdles.

Addressing the graduates, Prof. Fabamwo reminded them of their responsibility as ambassadors of one of West Africa’s most progressive teaching hospitals. He urged them to uphold the highest ethical standards and to treat patients with a blend of technical competence and genuine compassion. He emphasized that the prestigious LASUTH flag should be flown with pride, as their professional conduct will ultimately define the public’s trust in the healthcare system.

Faculty members, including Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Folashade Daniel, encouraged the new specialists to view their certificates as a launching pad for international recognition. She advised the graduates to remain active in research and stay updated on global developments in echocardiography. Dr. Daniel stressed that while the training was rigorous, the rapidly evolving nature of cardiac medicine requires a lifelong commitment to learning and staying abreast of technological advancements.

The ceremony concluded with a valedictory address by the overall best student, Ms. Moshood Rukayat Temidayo, who pledged on behalf of her peers to uphold the institution's reputation. The event was attended by top hospital management and representatives from the Ministry of Health, who thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his consistent support. The graduation marks a critical step forward in reducing the gap for specialized cardiac technicians within the Nigerian health sector.
