LASURA Hosts Abia Commissioner on Study Tour to Strengthen Urban Renewal Collaboration

The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) has hosted the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Abia State, Hon. Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije, and his management team on a study tour aimed at strengthening inter-state collaboration

The visit was designed to enable Abia State officials to understudy Lagos State’s urban renewal framework, policies, and implementation strategies in pursuit of sustainable urban development.
Welcoming the delegation, LASURA General Manager, Dr Animashaun Oladimeji, outlined the agency’s mandate to promote orderly urban development, improve living conditions, and support the state’s vision for a resilient and inclusive megacity.
The tour featured technical presentations on completed and ongoing renewal projects, digital mapping of blighted areas, resettlement programmes, funding models, and stakeholder engagement processes.

Hon. Chukwumerije commended LASURA’s achievements, describing the visit as timely and impactful, while reaffirming both states’ commitment to collaboration, experience sharing, and capacity building to enhance urban environments.
