Gov. Sanwo-Olu Congratulates Olatunji Disu on Appointment as Acting IGP

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Olatunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu, describing the development as well deserved and timely for the nation’s security architecture.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Governor commended Disu’s over three decades of dedicated service in the Nigeria Police Force, noting that his career has been defined by professionalism, discipline, and consistent performance. He stated that the new Acting IGP has earned the elevation through hard work and measurable results across various commands.
Sanwo-Olu recalled Disu’s tenure in Lagos, particularly his leadership as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, where he demonstrated a strong understanding of the operational landscape and community dynamics. According to the Governor, Disu approached policing with courage, strategic focus, and a people-oriented mindset.
The Governor expressed confidence that the Acting IGP would bring clarity of purpose and reform-driven leadership to his new role at a time when Nigeria requires a police force that is both accountable and effective. He emphasized that strengthening public trust and enhancing operational efficiency must remain top priorities under the new leadership.
