The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has engaged the Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority (LSNPPA) over concerns surrounding faded and damaged vehicle number plates across the State.

The engagement took place during a courtesy visit by the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of LASCOPA, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, Esq., who was received by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LSNPPA, Mr. Olayanju Olayinka Cole.

Discussions centred on the need to procure new standard number plates to replace old and defective ones issued by the State Government. The visit followed earlier engagements with the Permanent Secretary, Motor Vehicle Administration, Mr. Rasheed Muri-Okunola.

Mr. Cole advised motorists to handle number plates with care, warning against the use of chemically concentrated substances such as petrol, acetone, alcohol-based spirits, and abrasive materials, which can cause damage.

LASCOPA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights of motorists and ensuring improved service delivery, noting that proper identification on the road is critical to safety and effective traffic management in Lagos State.
