Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has urged residents to adopt voluntary cleanliness rather than wait for government-imposed movement restrictions..

Speaking on the AskLagos X Space, Wahab explained that monthly sanitation aims to rebuild a culture of environmental responsibility.

He noted that the decision followed legal reviews and Appeal Court rulings, clarifying there is no standing court order against sanitation exercises.

Wahab highlighted initiatives including bio-digester plants and distribution of over 100,000 waste bins, while assuring support for PSP operators.

He stressed that environmental laws will be enforced strictly, with sanctions strengthened through legislative review.
