The Lagos State Government has commenced a two-day specialised training programme to strengthen school safety and security management across the state. The initiative, organised by the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), targets teachers on Grade Levels 15–17.

Declaring the training open at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall in Ikeja, TESCOM Chairman Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino emphasised that school safety is fundamental to effective teaching and learning. She urged participants to collaborate with administrators, parents, community leaders, and security agencies to ensure consistent and sustainable safety standards.
Peregrino noted that modern schools face evolving challenges ranging from fire hazards and medical emergencies to bullying, violence, and cyber threats. She stressed that teachers must be equipped not only as educators but also as first responders and guardians of safe learning environments.
Permanent Secretary Mr. Olawale Ojikutu encouraged participants to engage actively and apply lessons learned in their respective schools. He explained that the training aligns with broader reforms under the state’s education agenda to meet global best practices.

Facilitated by NISREL Techniques, the programme covers emergency preparedness, child protection, cyber security, crisis response, and health protocols. Officials expressed confidence that the initiative will foster safer schools and empower educators across Lagos.
