The Lagos State Task Force has arrested 115 street beggars across multiple locations in the state as part of its ongoing enforcement operations to curb street begging and criminal activities.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that 26 members of the Omotaku group were arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Oshodi, where they pleaded guilty and were sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.

As part of the sensitisation drive, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, led a delegation to Isolo LCDA, where meetings were held with the council chairman, community leaders, and market women.

She emphasized that comprehensive resident registration is essential for effective governance, accurate data planning, improved service delivery, and enhanced security across Lagos State.

LASRRA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with grassroots stakeholders to ensure no resident is left undocumented, noting that the exercise will be carried out in phases with on-the-spot registration.
