Lagos Strengthens Tourism Drive with Strategic Engagement with AKWAABA Africa Travel Market

The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to position the State as a leading travel and cultural destination, following a strategic meeting between the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, and the Chief Executive Officer of AKWAABA Africa Travel Market, Ambassador Ikechi Uko.

The meeting was aimed at deepening collaboration in destination marketing, tourism development, and leveraging AKWAABA’s globally respected platforms to boost Lagos’ visibility on the international stage. Discussions centered on attracting foreign tourists, investors, and key industry stakeholders to Lagos State.
In attendance were the Director, Monuments Management Department, Mr. Ladejobi Ibrahim, as well as officers from the Tourism Promotion Department, Mr. Adejuwon Badejo and Mrs. Opemipo Oluwa, underscoring the Ministry’s collective approach to advancing tourism initiatives.
AKWAABA Africa Travel Market is widely recognized as one of Africa’s foremost tourism and travel events, bringing together governments, private sector players, and industry experts to promote African destinations, hospitality, and cultural exchange. The platform has consistently played a critical role in projecting Lagos and other African destinations to global audiences.

The engagement further reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to sustainable tourism growth and cultural development.
