The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the State’s export capacity with the hosting of the First Quarterly Meeting of the State Committee on Export Promotion. The meeting, held recently at the Folarin Coker Hall, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, brought together key public and private sector stakeholders to advance Lagos State’s export agenda.

Declaring the meeting open, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI), Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, emphasised the strategic importance of a coordinated export promotion strategy to the State’s economic growth and global competitiveness. She stressed the need for focused collaboration, clear priorities, and deliberate action to strengthen export activities across priority sectors.
Proceedings included the adoption of minutes from previous meetings, a review of the Committee’s mandate, and an overview of the Lagos State Export Promotion Framework. Discussions reaffirmed the Committee’s role in providing strategic direction, strengthening institutional alignment, and driving effective implementation of export initiatives.
The meeting featured strategic presentations on the Eko-Global Export Strategy Framework, commodity exchange-driven exports, and NIRSAL export finance partnerships. Deliberations centred on expanding market access, promoting structured trading systems, and improving access to finance for exporters, particularly in agriculture and value-added sectors.

Participants also reviewed current export performance, assessed key challenges, and identified emerging opportunities. The meeting concluded with clearly defined resolutions, action points, and a shared commitment to translating outcomes into measurable export growth for Lagos State.
