The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to promote public compliance with traffic and environmental laws through a sensitisation programme organised by the Special Offences (Mobile) Court. The exercise was held on Friday, 30th January 2025, across key locations including Oshodi, Iyana Ipaja, Ojota, Ikorodu, and the Lagos Safety Arena.

The programme, themed “Justice on Wheels: Know the Law, Keep Lagos Clean, Safe and Orderly,” focused on common traffic and environmental violations such as one-way driving, misuse of BRT lanes, and obstruction of public spaces.

The Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, represented by the Director of Citizens’ Rights, Mr. Ogunsanya Jonathan, stated that the Mobile Court serves not only as an enforcement mechanism but also as a platform for public education.

According to the Coordinator of the Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Mr. Olufemi Adekunle, the sensitisation exercise was designed to bridge the information gap between the justice system and residents, thereby reducing avoidable offences through increased awareness.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences, Mr. Adetayo Akerele, stressed that traffic discipline and environmental cleanliness are vital to public safety. He urged residents to comply with existing laws for the collective good of the state.
