The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to promoting economic diversification across key sectors of the state’s economy. This commitment was reaffirmed by the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, during the second edition of the India Trade Expo held in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner highlighted several sectors with strong investment potential including manufacturing, digital technology, agriculture value chains, sustainable energy, healthcare management, financial services and the creative economy. She noted that these sectors present valuable opportunities for international investors.
Mrs. Bada Ambrose further explained that Lagos State is aligning with national economic priorities aimed at boosting non-oil exports and strengthening Nigeria’s position in global trade. According to her, the state government has already initiated programmes to support local businesses in achieving export readiness.
One of such initiatives includes a partnership with Afrexim Bank to train 252 small and medium-scale enterprises on export readiness. The Commissioner added that 20 outstanding participants from the programme were sponsored to attend the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) 2025 in Algiers.

She also noted that the India Trade Expo serves as an important platform for strengthening economic relations between Nigeria and India, two countries with a long history of trade and diplomatic engagement. The expo, she said, provides opportunities for deeper investment collaboration that will benefit both economies..
