The Lagos State Government is intensifying efforts to deepen strategic cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the areas of housing, infrastructure, and real estate investment ahead of the 6th Lagos Real Estate MarketPlace Conference and Exhibitions scheduled for December 16–17, 2025.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Barrister Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, disclosed the development after meeting with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, in Abuja.
The engagement follows an earlier visit to the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria, where Lagos formally invited a Saudi delegation to participate in the upcoming conference themed “Shaping the Future of Lagos Mega City: Infrastructure, Investment, Innovation and Affordable Housing.”
Odunuga-Bakare said the discussions are part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader strategy to attract credible international partners that can support Lagos in delivering large-scale affordable housing, modern infrastructure, and technology-driven urban solutions.
She stressed that the Real Estate MarketPlace Conference has evolved into a high-level platform that connects government, developers, investors, and industry professionals, adding that Lagos is positioning itself as a preferred destination for long-term real estate and infrastructure financing.
In response, Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa commended Lagos for aligning with the Federal Government’s housing agenda, noting that international cooperation remains crucial to bridging Nigeria’s housing gap. He also disclosed that the Federal Government will soon commission 2,000 Renewed Hope Housing units nationwide.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tuggar, welcomed the move, saying sub-national diplomacy of this kind strengthens Nigeria’s global investment outlook and extends bilateral relations beyond oil, pilgrimage, and trade.
The Lagos delegation expressed confidence that Saudi participation in the conference would open new investment channels and accelerate housing delivery models capable of serving both low- and middle-income earners.
The two-day conference will bring together local and foreign investors, policy leaders, financiers, and industry experts as Lagos continues to pursue its vision of a sustainable and globally competitive megacity.
