The Lagos State Government has officially released the 2026 Land Use Charge (LUC) bills, urging property owners across the state to fulfil their statutory obligations while taking advantage of a 15 per cent early payment discount. The government also announced that enforcement actions against property owners who defaulted on their 2025 Land Use Charge payments will commence shortly.

According to the state authorities, the Land Use Charge remains one of the most important revenue sources for Lagos, enabling the government to finance major infrastructure projects and provide essential public services. Funds generated from the charge have played a crucial role in the development and maintenance of roads, public schools, healthcare facilities, security systems and other key infrastructure required to sustain the growth of the rapidly expanding metropolis.
The state government highlighted several transformative projects funded through internally generated revenue, including the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line and the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line. These rail projects are significantly improving urban mobility, reducing traffic congestion and providing commuters with more efficient transportation options across different parts of Lagos.
Speaking on the release of the 2026 bills, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Tajudeen Mahmud Alao, described the Land Use Charge as more than a legal obligation, noting that it represents a civic responsibility that contributes directly to the development of the state. He emphasised that every payment made by property owners supports improved roads, enhanced healthcare delivery, quality education and strengthened security for residents.

The government therefore encouraged all property owners to promptly settle their bills through various payment channels including internet banking, designated banks, POS terminals, USSD platforms, the Lagos Online Assistant (LOLA) WhatsApp payment system, and the Lagos Revenue Portal. Officials reiterated that timely compliance will help sustain the state’s vision of building a more prosperous and globally competitive Lagos.
