Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Environmental Services, Dr. Tajudeen Gaji represented by the Director of the Environmental Education Unit, Mrs. Monsurat Banire said the programme was designed to inspire young people to take responsibility for building a sustainable environment.

He noted that a major highlight of the gathering was the Eco-Winner Sustainability Tour, an initiative that motivates students to promote sustainability in their schools and communities, rewarding those who demonstrate exceptional commitment to environmental protection.

Dr. Gaji commended EBC handlers and teachers for translating environmental education into practical impact, stressing that their guidance has helped bridge the gap between policy and real-life implementation

He encouraged the students to seize every learning opportunity presented at the programme and use their acquired knowledge to drive meaningful change in the future.

“You must ensure that the knowledge you gain today becomes the foundation for tomorrow’s solutions. The future of our environment truly belongs to you,” he told the students.
“This sensitisation is not only to inform you, but to inspire you to act in your communities and beyond. Your participation from all six education districts makes this year’s edition especially impactful,” Mrs. Esther Olaleye, Deputy Director, Environmental Education Unit, added.

The event concluded with a lecture on sustainable environments by Dr. Lasisi Adedoyin and the presentation of prizes to outstanding students who distinguished themselves during the sessions.
