Procurement professionals in Lagos State have emphasised the need to integrate sustainability into public procurement processes as a pathway to efficiency, accountability, and long-term economic impact.

This was the focus of a two-day retreat organised by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (LSPPA) for officers in the procurement professional cadre, held at Cordis Hotel, Ikeja, and themed “Public Procurement in Lagos State: From Strategic Planning to Sustainability – The Road Map.”

Delivering the keynote address, the Director-General of LSPPA, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, stated that the retreat was designed to reposition procurement officers to make strategic, transparent, and environmentally responsible decisions amid limited resources.

Participants were encouraged to embrace innovation, technology, and the Sustainable Development Goals in their daily operations, as the State continues to align public procurement with global best practices under the #AGreaterLagosRising agenda.
