The Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, who led the discussions and engaged retirees on issues related to post-service welfare and state-driven support initiatives.

The session created a platform for retirees to share their experiences, concerns, and recommendations on improving pension administration, healthcare access, and opportunities for continued community engagement.

Mrs. Oyegbola reaffirmed that the government recognises retirees as key contributors to the development of Lagos State and remains committed to enhancing communication and welfare mechanisms that support them.

She highlighted the state’s dedication to ensuring timely pension payments and establishing structured channels for sustained dialogue with retired public servants.

“Lagos State Government acknowledges the pivotal role our retirees have played in shaping this state. This interactive session is part of our continuous efforts to listen, engage and address issues affecting our esteemed retirees,” she said.
“The government will continue to prioritise retirees’ welfare and strengthen mechanisms for effective communication and support, ensuring that no retiree is left behind,” she added.

Retirees expressed appreciation for the engagement, describing it as a positive step toward deeper collaboration. The government announced that such interactive sessions will be institutionalised as a regular practice to ensure retirees remain integral to the state’s social and developmental framework.
