The Lagos State Government has officially commenced the Boot Camp for the Ibile Youth Academy, a leadership training programme designed to equip young people with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to national development. The one-week residential training is being held at the Digital Bridge Institute in Oshodi.

The programme brings together 50 participants who emerged as winners from divisional training sessions held across the five divisions of the state—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe. Their names were earlier announced by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, during a leadership summit and alumni launch at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, urged participants to remain committed to building the nation rather than seeking opportunities abroad. He emphasized that the country’s development must be driven by its citizens.

Ogunlende noted that Nigerian youths make up over 60 percent of the country’s population and therefore possess the capacity to develop innovative solutions to national challenges. He encouraged the participants to collaborate and remain determined in their pursuit of progress.

At the end of the training programme, the overall best participant will emerge as the State Youth Ambassador, while five others will be selected as Divisional Ambassadors representing the various divisions across Lagos State.
