The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening land administration through the development of a modern office complex for the Lagos Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) in Alausa, Ikeja. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this known during an inspection of the ongoing project.

The five-storey building is being constructed as a specialised facility to house services related to geospatial mapping, land documentation, and urban planning. When completed, the building will serve as a one-stop centre for residents and businesses seeking land-related services in Lagos State.

According to the Governor, the LAGIS facility will enhance the state’s capacity to manage geographic data and provide faster, more transparent access to land administration processes. He emphasised that the project forms part of the broader strategy to modernise governance systems in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu also expressed confidence that the contractor handling the project would accelerate work in the coming weeks to meet the expected timeline. He stressed that the facility would complement other ongoing infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving government operations.

The LAGIS project is expected to play a crucial role in supporting Lagos’ long-term urban development plans by strengthening digital mapping systems and improving the efficiency of land documentation and planning processes.
