The Lagos State Government has officially flagged off the introduction of the Measles–Rubella (MR) vaccine into its routine immunisation programme, reaffirming its commitment to child health and disease prevention.

The flag-off ceremony, held in Ibeju-Lekki, was presided over by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and attended by government officials and development partners.
The initiative aims to eliminate measles and rubella while preventing lifelong disabilities among children, with over 10.4 million children targeted in the initial vaccination phase.
Health officials explained that the programme represents a shift from reactive outbreak response to sustainable disease prevention embedded in primary healthcare services.

Parents and caregivers were urged to cooperate fully to ensure that all eligible children are vaccinated, reinforcing Lagos’ goal of building a healthier and more resilient population.
