The Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement has convened a one-day Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) forum aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Lagos State Government and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The forum, themed “Beyond Commerce: Building Our Lagos Tomorrow Today,” brought together entrepreneurs, corporate stakeholders and policy experts to explore how businesses can align their growth strategies with sustainable community development initiatives.

Delivering the keynote address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, explained that the engagement was designed to create structured dialogue between government and the private sector. He noted that the initiative seeks to unlock mutually beneficial partnerships that support economic development and social impact.

Dr. Tajudeen also emphasised that CSR initiatives can serve as a strategic investment for businesses, enhancing brand reputation while contributing to social cohesion and community development. He added that companies that adopt structured CSR frameworks may also qualify for certain tax incentives.

Participants at the forum discussed issues such as electronic fiscal systems, taxation reforms and regulatory challenges faced by MSMEs. Government officials assured stakeholders that feedback from the engagement would help refine policies and strengthen collaboration between the state and the private sector.
