Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, has emphasised the economic importance of empowering women at the International Women’s Day celebration organised by Zenith Bank.

The event, themed “Take It; You Own It,” brought together prominent female leaders including the First Lady of Lagos State, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and the Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji.

Speaking at the gathering, Ambrose stated that empowering women is not only a social responsibility but also an economic opportunity that can significantly contribute to national development. She noted that women dominate the micro and informal enterprise sectors and therefore require targeted support.

She further explained that the Lagos State Government continues to implement policies that encourage entrepreneurship and expand economic opportunities for women across various sectors of the economy.

The LAGIS project is expected to play a crucial role in supporting Lagos’ long-term urban development plans by strengthening digital mapping systems and improving the efficiency of land documentation and planning processes.
