The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has commenced an eight-month rehabilitation project of the Iju and Adiyan Water Treatment Plants to enhance operational efficiency and improve access to potable water across the state.

Tagged “Rehabilitation of Iju Headworks and Akute Intake Station – Lots 1, 2 and 3,” the project is part of the Corporation’s asset renewal strategy and is fully funded by the Lagos State Government. The rehabilitation is scheduled to run from February to October 2026.

Speaking at the project kick-off meeting at the Corporation’s headquarters in Ijora, the Managing Director of LWC, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, represented by the Executive Director, Operations, Engr. (Mrs.) Helen Omolanke Taiwo, described the project as critical to addressing long-standing operational challenges.

Engr. Tijani noted that the project aligns with the Corporation’s five-year strategic business plan launched in December 2024 and focuses primarily on pump replacement and upgrades approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Contractors and equipment manufacturers, including KSB Pumps & Valves Nigeria Ltd., Wilo Pumps Nigeria Ltd., and Springfield Electric Ltd., assured the Corporation of quality delivery, personnel training and post-completion equipment support, expressing confidence that the project will significantly improve water supply across Lagos State.
