The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has commenced the 7th Edition of the Ibile Youth Academy, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing future leaders across the state. The programme formally opened at the Faculty of Education III Conference Hall, LASU Ojo Campus.

In his keynote address, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, stressed that investment in young people yields immeasurable long-term benefits. He stated that the Academy is built on the belief that youths possess the innovation, energy, and leadership capacity necessary for sustainable development and good governance.

The programme, launched in 2017, focuses on citizenship, leadership, volunteerism, and community service in alignment with the THEMES Plus Development Agenda. The Permanent Secretary, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-osanyintolu, represented by Mr. Abiodun Dina, described the initiative as a strategic investment in human capital development.

Activities for this edition include divisional leadership training, a one-day seminar and alumni launch, and a residential bootcamp. Participants will compete for the positions of State Youth Ambassador and Divisional Youth Ambassadors, who will be tasked with executing community-based projects.

The Academy continues to serve as a platform for empowering young people with leadership skills and civic responsibility, positioning them as active contributors to the state’s development.
