The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to cultural diversity and global engagement as it participated in the International Day celebration at the American International School of Lagos (AISL), Victoria Island, on February 6, 2026.

The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, was represented at the event by the Deputy Director, Administration and Human Resource Department of the Ministry, Mrs. Bimpe Ojikutu-Balogun, underscoring the State’s institutional support for cultural exchange initiatives.
The event featured colourful displays of diverse cultures, traditions, cuisines, and performances from different parts of the world, reflecting Lagos State’s identity as Nigeria’s most cosmopolitan city and a melting pot of cultures.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, the representative noted that such celebrations align with the State’s broader vision of promoting intercultural understanding, social cohesion, and global citizenship among young people.

The celebration also reinforces Lagos State’s ambition to emerge as Africa’s cultural capital, a goal being pursued through major initiatives such as Afropolis, the State’s flagship nine-day international festival of arts, culture, and innovation.
