The traffic advisory was issued on Thursday by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation via its official X handle, informing residents and motorists of planned movement restrictions around key routes on Lagos Island.

According to the ministry, vehicular movement will be restricted around Inner Marina, Marina Road and Kakawa Street between 12 noon and 7 pm on the day of the race.

The advisory explained that the restriction is necessary to allow for the seamless staging of the race, which is expected to attract participants and spectators from within and outside the state.

It further noted that all junctions and intersections from Marina Road (UBA) to Broad Street (Inner Marina) will be cordoned off with road barriers to restrict access to the main race corridor.

“Consequently, there will be a temporary road closure along the race routes; Marina Road (UBA) – Kakawa Street – Balabina Street – Broad Street – Issah Williams Street – Broad Street, and back to Inner Marina, which is the end point of the race,” the ministry stated.
“To this end, all junctions and intersections from Marina Road (UBA) to Broad Street (Inner Marina) will be cordoned off with road barriers to restrict access to the main race corridor,” the advisory added.

The ministry urged motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with traffic officials, noting that agencies including LASTMA, the Nigerian Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps will be deployed, while organisers of the event said Marina was chosen for its iconic and historic value as a symbol of Lagos’ status as a model city and tourist destination.
