Lagis Approves Transformation of Obalende Bus Stop into Modern Transport Hub

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the transformation of the Obalende Bus Stop into a modern transport hub to enhance mobility and urban aesthetics in the area.

The project, to be fully funded by MTN Nigeria as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, will integrate the Obalende loop, underbridge, and adjoining lay-by into a functional and well-regulated transport facility known as the Y’ELLO Bus Park.

According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the hub will feature organised bus operations, solar-powered facilities, recyclables drop-off stations, and improved landscaping through tree planting.

Additional facilities include food kiosks, ticketing booths, public toilets, and designated spaces for LAWMA sweepers and security agencies. The initiative aims to improve safety, sanitation, and overall quality of life in the area.

The project follows the Governor’s 2024 inspection of Obalende, which revealed severe environmental and security concerns. Recent enforcement exercises have since restored order, paving the way for the hub’s transformation.
