Charles III on Thursday received Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa and members of a Nigerian delegation during a special diaspora event held at St James's Palace.

The reception formed part of an engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora ahead of the upcoming royal visit involving Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the meeting, King Charles III expressed pleasure in interacting with Nigerians living abroad and acknowledged the significance of their presence and contributions.

Dabiri-Erewa, who heads the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, described the event as a proud moment for Nigeria and an opportunity to strengthen relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

She noted that such high-level diaspora engagements help reinforce bilateral ties and cultural connections between both countries while also showcasing the achievements and global contributions of Nigerians.

According to her, interactions of this nature also help create opportunities for investment, partnerships and skills exchange that could support national development.

She added that Nigeria’s diaspora community, estimated at over 20 million people worldwide, continues to play a vital role in the country’s growth and international presence.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commendation extended by the British monarch during the event.
