The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has praised Chidimma Adetshina for her outstanding performance at the 73rd Miss Universe competition. Dabiri-Erewa described her accomplishment as a reflection of her resilience and determination.

Chidimma, representing Nigeria at the global pageant held in Mexico, achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first runner-up. She was also crowned Miss Africa and Oceania 2024, marking a significant milestone for Nigeria.

In a congratulatory statement released on Sunday by NIDCOM’s Director of Media and Public Relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa commended Chidimma for her perseverance and unwavering focus despite the challenges she faced.

"Chidimma’s success is a testament to her tenacity, resilience, and determination," Dabiri-Erewa stated. "In the face of challenges, she remained steadfast and brought pride to Nigeria on the world stage."

Upon her return, Chidimma was warmly received at NIDCOM’s Lagos office, accompanied by  Mr Guy Murray-Bruce, President of the Silverbird Group. A grand reception in her honor followed at The Temple in Victoria Island, Lagos, attended by dignitaries and music legend D’banj.

Dabiri-Erewa encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to emulate Chidimma’s patriotic spirit, emphasizing that she represents the true Nigerian essence—resilient and proud of her heritage. She urged everyone to focus on promoting the country’s positive image rather than diminishing it.
