A new era of diaspora investment was ushered in on Friday, July 25, 2025, as the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Sydani Group, and FirstBank Plc officially launched the Home and Abroad Platform a secure, digital system designed to simplify and protect property ownership for Nigerians living abroad.
Unveiled at the Presidential Villa during the 2025 National Diaspora Day and National Diaspora Merit Awards, the platform aims to eliminate the risks and complexities associated with purchasing real estate from outside the country. This year’s event was held under the theme, “Optimising Formidable Diaspora Potentials for National Development and Growth,” and drew attendance from top government officials, private sector leaders, foreign diplomats, and members of the diaspora community.
With an estimated diaspora population exceeding 70 million and annual remittances of over $20 billion, the platform seeks to channel this economic power into verified and trustworthy property investments. Users will benefit from access to vetted real estate options and a FirstBank-powered payment system that ensures transaction security from any location globally.

Sydani Group led the platform’s design and rollout, combining technical innovation with a user-friendly interface to meet the needs of a scattered but eager diaspora population. Group Managing Partner Sidney Sampson and team members including Christopher Epum, Abdulganiyy Ajayi, and Adedayo Odupitan were present at the launch.
“Home and Abroad provides the confidence diaspora Nigerians need to invest in property back home,” said project manager Christopher Epum. “It offers full property previews and a seamless payment process designed for international access.”
NiDCOM Chairperson, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, noted that the initiative tackles one of the biggest barriers to diaspora investment: trust. She praised the collaboration as a practical step toward unlocking the diaspora’s development potential.
Also speaking at the event, FirstBank representative Abimbola Meshinoye, Head of Brand Strategy and Financial Planning, described the platform as a natural fit for the bank’s financial inclusion agenda. She highlighted the importance of giving diaspora communities secure access to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
The Home and Abroad Platform reflects a shared commitment by NiDCOM, Sydani Group, and FirstBank to convert remittance flows into long-term assets, while reinforcing investor confidence in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
