The Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has reviewed its 2025 operational performance, commending franchise operators for achieving significant coverage in health facility monitoring across Lagos State. The assessment was unveiled during a three-day capacity-building programme for franchise operators.

Permanent Secretary of HEFAMAA, Dr. Abiola Idowu, disclosed that franchise operators recorded between 75 and 80 per cent visitation coverage, reflecting the effectiveness of the agency’s franchising model in extending regulatory oversight. She noted that the achievement has strengthened compliance and service delivery in the health sector.

Dr. Idowu emphasised that monitoring goes beyond visitation figures, stressing the importance of accurate documentation, inspection reports, and compliance notices. These instruments, she said, are critical to enforcement actions and maintaining regulatory integrity.

She charged operators to deepen their reach in underserved and fast-growing communities while warning against abuse of regulatory responsibilities. According to her, any misconduct would attract severe sanctions, including removal from the franchise programme and legal action.

Other speakers at the training highlighted the legal and operational frameworks guiding HEFAMAA’s mandate, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to safeguarding healthcare standards and protecting public health across Lagos State.
