The Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has expanded its grassroots engagement across Lagos State, intensifying advocacy efforts to curb quack health practices and unregistered medical facilities.

At a sensitisation campaign and town hall meeting in Ojo Local Government Area, the Agency’s Permanent Secretary, Abiola Idowu, stressed the importance of patronising only licensed and accredited healthcare providers.
Represented by Deputy Director of Health Education, Mrs. Oladunni Omonike, Dr. Idowu explained that the statewide campaign aims to empower residents to verify legitimate healthcare centres using official tools such as registration insignia and QR codes.
She disclosed that public participation has increased significantly, leading to actionable intelligence and the shutdown of multiple unregistered facilities in recent weeks. The Agency described the development as a strong signal of its enforcement resolve.

HEFAMAA reiterated that only qualified and licensed practitioners are permitted to manage healthcare establishments, warning against the dangers posed by untrained individuals offering specialised services without certification.
