A political support group backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced an ambitious plan to secure five million votes nationwide ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
The body, known as the Global Alliance for Tinubu Campaign (GATIC 2027), formally introduced its agenda at a press briefing in Abuja, declaring its readiness to spearhead mobilisation efforts across the country in support of the President’s re-election.
Addressing journalists, the group’s Director-General, Prince Bevis Paul Igbinoba, said the organisation has established structures in all 774 local government areas and is focused on consolidating grassroots backing. He described the five-million-vote target as achievable through coordinated engagement at community levels.
Igbinoba argued that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu has implemented sweeping economic measures aimed at restructuring the nation’s finances and stabilising key sectors. He referenced the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of foreign exchange rates as foundational decisions taken early in the administration.
The group also pointed to what it described as measurable progress in crude oil output, revenue allocation to states, student loan interventions, agricultural financing through the Bank of Industry, and flagship infrastructure initiatives, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
On economic indicators, GATIC 2027 highlighted increased foreign investment inflows and a reduction in the country’s debt service-to-revenue ratio in recent years. It maintained that these developments reflect fiscal discipline and renewed investor confidence, even as economic pressures persist.
According to him, the campaign platform brings together professionals, technocrats and business leaders within Nigeria and abroad who believe the current administration deserves a second term to consolidate ongoing reforms.
While acknowledging that security and cost-of-living challenges remain significant, the group insisted that policy continuity is essential. It said its mobilisation strategy would leverage nationwide networks and diaspora engagement, with further campaign details to be rolled out in the coming months.
