Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to a robust partnership with the Nigerian Navy. This follows a high-profile courtesy visit by the 46th Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral A. A. Mustapha, to the Lagos House in Ikeja. The meeting underscored the vital synergy between state leadership and military command in securing the nation’s commercial nerve center

During the reception, the Governor and Rear Admiral Mustapha engaged in strategic discussions regarding the ongoing role of the Navy in patrolling the state's extensive maritime domain. Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the Navy’s presence is a cornerstone of his administration's security architecture. By ensuring the safety of the waterways, the Navy provides a necessary cushion for the state's blue economy to thrive.

The Governor specifically praised the Nigerian Navy for its consistent efforts in curbing maritime crimes and supporting general safety within the wider Gulf of Guinea region. He noted that the security of Lagos’s territorial waters is not just a state priority, but a national imperative. The collaboration aims to provide a secure environment for both local residents and international maritime stakeholders.

Beyond security, the visit served as a platform for Sanwo-Olu to pledge continued administrative support for the Western Naval Command. He assured the Rear Admiral that his government remains dedicated to providing the necessary cooperation to ensure the Command's operations are seamless. This includes fostering better communication channels between state agencies and naval personnel.

As the meeting concluded, Rear Admiral Mustapha thanked the Governor for his hospitality and proactive stance on security. The visit signals a renewed era of cooperation aimed at protecting lives and property across Lagos. With the state's waterways becoming increasingly central to transport and commerce, this partnership is expected to yield significant dividends for regional stability.
