Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strategic international partnerships as he received a high-level delegation from the World Bank Group at Lagos House, Marina. The delegation was led by the Managing Director for Operations, Ms. Anna Bjerde, alongside the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Regional Vice President for Africa, Mr. Ethiopia Tafara.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between Lagos State and the World Bank in key sectors critical to improving the quality of life for residents. These include energy, agriculture, tourism, and human capital development, all identified as priority areas for sustainable economic growth and inclusive development.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised that Lagos is actively seeking impactful partnerships and investments that will raise living standards across the state. He noted that the government is prepared to take deliberate and accountable steps to earn greater international support, particularly for infrastructure projects that directly affect daily life and economic productivity.
Reflecting on the administration’s six-year journey under the THEMES+ agenda, the governor highlighted measurable progress across multiple sectors. He stated that the focus of governance in Lagos has consistently been on delivering tangible results that citizens can feel, while acknowledging that more work remains.

Citing the Ease of Doing Business ranking as a key example, Governor Sanwo-Olu recalled that Lagos moved from 29th position nationally four years ago to first place last year. He attributed the achievement to deliberate reforms, consistency in policy execution, and improved accountability in government operations.
