Gov. Sanwo-Olu Welcomes UAE Investment Minister, Strengthens Nigeria–UAE Economic Ties

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, February 2, 2026, met with the United Arab Emirates Minister of Investment, His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, as part of activities at the Nigeria–UAE Investment Forum, Investopia Global Africa.

The high-level engagement brought together government officials, investors, and business leaders from both countries to explore opportunities for deepening economic cooperation. Governor Sanwo-Olu participated in strategic discussions focused on attracting sustainable investments capable of driving inclusive growth across key sectors of the Nigerian economy, particularly in Lagos State.
Speaking at the forum, the governor reaffirmed Lagos’ readiness to partner with both local and international investors, describing the state as a hub of innovation, infrastructure development, and economic resilience. He highlighted ongoing investments in transportation, housing, digital infrastructure, and security as critical pillars supporting Lagos’ pro-business environment.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that sustained economic growth in Lagos depends on partnerships that align with the state’s long-term development vision. He noted that strengthening ties with the UAE presents opportunities for technology transfer, capital inflow, and expanded trade relations that would benefit both economies.

The Nigeria–UAE Investment Forum marked a significant step toward translating diplomatic relations into tangible economic outcomes. Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the engagements and commitments made would result in measurable investments, job creation, and long-term economic growth for Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
