Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu,welcomes Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo, at Lagos House, Marina, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting underscored the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Lagos State and Japan, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepening collaboration in key development areas. Discussions focused on expanding strategic partnerships that would deliver tangible benefits to residents and businesses
Sanwo-Olu highlighted Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s commercial hub and a leading destination for foreign direct investment. He expressed optimism that enhanced cooperation with Japan would unlock new opportunities, particularly in technology transfer, industrial growth, and infrastructure development.
Ambassador Suzuki Hideo, in his remarks, reiterated Japan’s interest in supporting subnational governments in Nigeria through innovation-driven partnerships and sustainable investment models. He acknowledged Lagos’ economic dynamism and readiness for global collaboration.

The visit marks another step in Lagos State’s ongoing international engagement drive, reinforcing its ambition to position the state as a globally competitive megacity under the THEMES Plus Agenda.
