Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to formally receive Lagos-based student-athletes who delivered an outstanding performance at the World School Games Olympia held in Doha, Qatar, from January 29 to 31, 2026.

The students, competing in athletics, football, and swimming across U-11, U-13, and U-15 categories, secured an impressive medal haul and ranked prominently on overall leaderboards, underscoring Lagos State’s growing dominance in structured school sports.
Among the standout institutions, St Saviour’s School finished first overall in the U-11 category, while Grange School placed second overall in U-13 and third in U-15. Other participating schools included Riverbank School, British International School, Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School, and Corona School.
The Governor will also host Team Lagos athletes who represented Nigeria at the African Youth Games, many of whom began their journey at the National Youth Games, where Lagos secured a historic top-of-the-table finish.

The reception is expected to celebrate excellence, encourage youth participation in sports, and reinforce Lagos State’s commitment to talent development through structured school athletics and grassroots sports investment.
