Gov. Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates Lagos Electricity Regulatory Commission Board

Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has formally inaugurated the Board of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) at Lagos House in Ikeja. The inauguration marks a significant step in the state’s efforts to strengthen its electricity sector.

The commission was established following the enactment of the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024, which provides the legal framework for the state to play a stronger role in regulating and managing electricity generation and distribution within its jurisdiction.
the establishment of LASERC, the commission will be responsible for licensing electricity providers operating within the state and ensuring that service providers comply with established regulatory standards.
The commission will also oversee tariff structures to ensure fairness for consumers while promoting a competitive and reliable electricity market that supports economic growth.

Officials say the commission will further encourage innovation within the power sector, including the development of renewable energy solutions and more efficient electricity systems to meet the growing energy needs of residents and businesses in Lagos State.
