Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has warmly congratulated Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the First Lady of Nigeria, on being named Person of the Year 2025 by Leadership Newspapers at its 18th Annual Conference and Awards ceremony. The recognition, presented at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, honoured Senator Tinubu for her extensive humanitarian work and commitment to national service.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the accolade as well deserved, highlighting Senator Tinubu’s consistent support for women, young people and community development initiatives across the nation. The Leadership Person of the Year award recognises individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted national development and societal wellbeing. Senator Tinubu, a former legislator and longstanding advocate for empowerment programmes, used her acceptance remarks to urge Nigerians to work together across cultural and religious divides for the country’s progress.

At the awards event, several other distinguished Nigerians were also recognised for their leadership and service in various sectors. The ceremony underscored the role of civic-minded leadership in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting inclusive development within Nigeria’s complex political landscape.

Senator Tinubu dedicated her award to the late founder of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, and commended the publication’s ongoing commitment to journalism that informs and inspires. She also acknowledged that the honor was a collective achievement for Nigerians working quietly in communities to uplift others and ignite hope across the nation.
