Gov. Sanwo-Olu Appoints Muyiwa Adetola as New Lagos Accountant-General

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the redeployment of Mr. Muyiwa Adetola as the new Accountant-General of the State and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office.

The appointment follows the statutory retirement of the outgoing Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, Abiodun Muritala, marking a transition in the State’s financial leadership structure.
According to an official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Adetola was redeployed from the Office of the State Auditor-General, where he previously served as State Auditor-General. The appointment took effect from Monday, March 2, 2026.
The Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, congratulated the new Accountant-General and urged all stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition in line with established administrative procedures.

The redeployment underscores the Lagos State Government’s continued emphasis on accountability, fiscal discipline, and institutional continuity in managing public finances.
