Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has called on indigenes residing and doing business outside the state to channel investments back home, stressing that diaspora participation is key to driving economic growth and development.
He made the appeal during the unveiling of the Seven Angels Arena on Idoro Road in Uyo, the state capital, where he praised the founder, Archbishop Emma Isong, for demonstrating commitment to the state through sustained local investment.
According to the governor, Akwa Ibom offers a conducive environment for business, with improving infrastructure and policies designed to attract investors. He encouraged citizens abroad to take advantage of these opportunities by establishing ventures in the state.
Eno noted that even small-scale investments can have a meaningful impact, urging indigenes not to overlook the value of contributing to their home economy regardless of the size of their businesses.
He emphasised that personal success should not be disconnected from community development, adding that achievements attained outside the state should be reflected in tangible contributions at home.
The governor also reiterated that the responsibility of building the state lies collectively with its people, urging more diaspora investors to follow the example set by Archbishop Isong.
He assured that his administration remains committed to supporting private sector initiatives that promote job creation, economic expansion, and long-term prosperity for the people of Akwa Ibom.
