A French mother has expressed frustration with British prison authorities following the release of a Nigerian-born man at the centre of an international child abduction dispute involving their young son.

Claire N'Djosse said she was devastated after learning that Ifedayo Adeyeye, a British-Nigerian national, was released from custody in the United Kingdom despite ongoing efforts to locate their five-year-old son, Laurys.

The child has reportedly been missing since July 2024, when he was allegedly taken from France by his father. N'Djosse believes the boy was transported through the UK before being moved to Nigeria.

Adeyeye had previously been jailed after failing to comply with a court order linked to the child's return. However, British authorities recently disclosed that he was mistakenly released from a London prison and was no longer in custody before police were informed.

The incident has triggered renewed concerns over the handling of the case, with law enforcement agencies continuing efforts to track down Adeyeye. Reports suggest investigators are examining the possibility that he may have travelled to another European country after his release.

Speaking about the development, N'Djosse said the prison sentence had given her hope that she might be reunited with her son. She described the release as a major setback and said the uncertainty surrounding her child's whereabouts has left her struggling emotionally.

The UK's Ministry of Justice acknowledged the distress caused by the error, while authorities continue their search for Adeyeye and efforts to resolve the long-running custody dispute.
