The Federal Government has begun coordinating the safe evacuation of Nigerians in Iran as tensions continue to escalate in parts of the Middle East.

Officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran are currently escorting Nigerians who wish to leave the country to the Armenia border, where arrangements have been made to ensure their safe passage out of the region.

Authorities confirmed that no Nigerian citizen in Iran has been harmed by the ongoing conflict. Embassy officials remain stationed at the border to receive and support evacuees as they arrive.

The evacuation process is being carried out in collaboration with Armenian authorities to guarantee smooth movement for Nigerians leaving Iran.

Government sources said the move forms part of broader efforts to safeguard Nigerians abroad during periods of instability and security threats.

Officials added that the Federal Government continues to closely monitor developments in the Middle East while prioritising the safety and welfare of its citizens in affected areas.

The authorities also reassured Nigerians that diplomatic missions across the region remain active and ready to provide assistance to citizens who may require support.
